I am just going by the steady downward trend in sale pricing for nice cars in the last 8-9 months. Typically while tastefull mods like ECU or exhaust don't hurt a car's value the virgin ones go for a bit more because people get some peace of mind knowing some wanker hasn't had their fingers in everything as a DIY "learning experience".
As for the storage of the car it sounds fine to me. I wouldn't let my car sit for so long without running it (almost 2 years?) but it sounds like he took every possible precaution. I would however plan on the battery being dead when you pick it up especially if he is in a cold climate. Maybe just ask him to go out and start it and let it run for 20 min or so, see if it start's hard or anything.
